Pearl Bead Heart Ornament (quick & easy!)
With just a few days till Valentines Day, are you looking around at your house thinking it's not very 'pretty'? Here's a quick and easy (I promise) little ornament to dress up your door handle or add to a gift as a topper.
See how pretty it looks simply hanging from a doorknob? Read further for step by step instructions.
Supplies & Directions
- plastic pearls with holes large enough for your wire to go through (I found these at the dollar store)
- white wire (I stole a wire hanger from the closet but pipe cleaner will work too)
- seam binding in your color choice (you can find seam binding for sale here)
- thin string or more seam binding to hang your heart from.
- wire cutters, pliers, scissors to cut the seam binding.
Cut your wire into 12 inch lengths. I managed to get 3 complete hearts out of one hanger. Measure in 6 inches from one end and make a sharp bend in the wire at that center point. Hanger wire can be really tough to bend, if it's too hard for you to work with, pipe cleaners will be easy to work with but pretty 'bendy' afterwards.
String on an equal amount of beads onto both sides of the center bend. Start to curve in the round shape of the heart as you go, I found it easier that way. I used a little washi tape on the side I wasn't work on to keep my beads from sliding off.
Bend small loops into the ends and insert them into each other, squeeze the loops shut. You should be able to manipulate the wire a bit more to shape the heart.
So I could hang the heart from our door knob, I simply tied 12 inches of white cotton crochet thread into a loop, hiding the knot where the wires connect. For the pretty bow, I used 12 inches of seam binding in white and tied a small bow over the wires.
That's it! You're done! :-) And you've made one, I bet you can make more....Sprinkle them everywhere.
I love the contrast of the petal pink seam binding but the classy white is nice too...which is your favorite? Please let me know...and if you make a pearl heart Valentines Day Ornament please tag me if you post it!
